Entrants will be deemed to have accepted these terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”), and agreed to be bound by them, when entering this Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions at any time.

  2. The Promoter is responsible for all administrative aspects of the Promotion (including determination of winners, prize-giving, and technical support etc.), with the assistance of partners and distributors.

  2. Closing date 11:59 pm PST on 19 of June 2017 for the United States of America.
  3. Any entries received after the Closing Date in the Entrant’s country of residence will not be considered for inclusion into the Promotion.
  1. This competition (“Promotion”) is open to bar tenders employed by bar/restaurant or industry establishments who are resident in the United States of America (“Entrants”). Entrants must be of legal drinking age in their country of residence.
  2. The following may not enter or win a prize: (a) employees of Promoter or its agents and their family members and (b) anyone else who is directly or indirectly professionally connected with the Promotion or the Promoter and their family members
  3. If at any point in the competition the Promoter becomes aware that an Entrant does not meet the eligibility requirements, the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that Entrant, and if applicable, re-award the prize to an eligible Entrant.

    1. Personal details including name, address, email, and phone number
    2. The name of the bar, restaurant or industry establishment where they work
    3. Name of cocktails created and recipes
    4. The name of the bar tender credited with inventing the drink
    5. The ingredients in the drink and exact measurements. The drink must contain a minimum of 1 oz of Ophir gin
    6. The method used to make it and how it is served
    7. One supporting image and a 1-minute demonstrational video
    8. A brief description of what the drink is about and why they believe it to be a drink worthy of a Opihr ‘Intrepid Explorer’
  3. The Promoter will contact the entrant within 30 days of receiving the entry, to confirm whether the information provided is complete and whether the entry has been accepted into the competition.
  1. Maximum of one entry per bartender.
  2. Incomplete entries and entries that do not comply in full with these Terms and Conditions will be rejected.
  1. The content standards set out below (“Content Standards”) serve to provide examples and are not meant to be an exhaustive list of the types of Content that are unacceptable for the purposes of the Promotion. “Content” means the name of the drink, the method for making it and any images provided of the drink.
  2. The Promoter expressly reserves the right to disallow or disqualify (or prevent from passing through the judging stage) any entry which it considers does not comply with these Content Standards or which it considers does not meet normal standards of taste and decency.
  3. By entering this Promotion, Entrants confirm that their Content meets the following Content Standards, the Content must not:
    1. encourage, condone, promote or glamorize under age excessive or irresponsible consumption of alcoholic beverages or drink driving or any behavior considered antisocial, illegal or immoral;
    2. be derogatory or defamatory of any person;
    3. be obscene, offensive, hateful or inflammatory;
    4. promote violence of any kind or suggest any association with bravado, aggressive or antisocial behavior;
    5. be sexually explicit (or contain any nudity) or suggest any association with sexual activity or sexual success;
    6. harm or attempt to harm minors in any way;
    7. be targeted at or be likely to particularly appeal to an audience under the legal drinking age in their country of residence;
    8. promote discrimination of any kind, including but not limited to discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation or age;
    9. be likely to harass, upset, embarrass alarm or annoy any person;
    10. be used to impersonate any person, or to misrepresent the entrant’s identity or their affiliation with another person or entity;
    11. give alcoholic strength or intoxicating effect undue emphasis;
    12. suggest that consumption of the drink can lead to social success or popularity; and
    13. suggest the drink has therapeutic qualities or can enhance mental or physical capabilities.
  1. By entering the Promotion, Entrants grant the Promoter, its affiliated companies and its sub-contractors the right to use any and all Content supplied to the Promoter in connection with the Promotion:
    1. for the purposes of administering this Promotion;
    2. for promotional and publicity purposes; and
    3. in all digital and social media in connection with the Promoter and the Promotion.
  2. Entrants hereby agree to do such other things and execute such other documents as are reasonably requested in order to allow the Promoter to make such use of their Content.
  3. To the extent permitted by law, Entrants hereby waive in favor of the Promoter and agree not to assert any moral rights (or similar rights worldwide) in and in connection with their Content.
  1. Regional finalists will be selected from the pool of valid entries. These will be selected by a judging panel administered by Quintessential Brands Group based on creativity, innovation, and original use of Opihr in their cocktails. Personality and brand story will also be a key factor in selection process. Entrants will be notified whether they have been selected for the regional final no later than 30 days after the Closing Date.
  2. Regional Finals: Regional finals will take place in each of the UK, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Luxembourg/Belgium, Ireland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Australia and the United States in June/August 2017. Regional finalists will be notified of the date of the regional final when they receive confirmation that they will be eligible to attend that regional final. The winner for each regional final will be decided based upon the following criteria: : (i) Taste & Balance (25%), Creativity & Innovation (25%), Use of Opihr in cocktail (20%), Presentation & appearance (20%), Relevance and appeal of recipe name (10%).
  3. Global Final: The winner from each regional final will be invited to the global final in Marrakesh, Morocco to compete in an international cocktail competition where one winner will be selected as the winner of the 2017 Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition. Regional Final Winners must be able to travel to the Global Final September 18 through 21, 2017 or their entry in the Global Final will be forfeited and will be awarded to another Entrant. The Promoter will pay the following expenses for each participant in the global final (“Global Final Contestant”) to attend the Global Final: (i) one economy class return air flight to Marrakesh, Morocco from a major airport near the Global Final Contestant’s residence; (ii) four nights hotel accommodation, (iii) ground transportation to & from the international cocktail competition while in Morocco, and (iv) meals Global Final. All other expenses are the Global Final Contestant’s responsibility, including telephone/Internet; room-service charges; gratuities; any airline changes fees where the Global Final Contestant seeks to change their flights, dates of travel or travel details; any additional airline or airport charges including, but not limited to, seat assignments, baggage fees or airport taxes. Each Global Final Contestant is responsible for arranging, and the cost of, travel and from the airport in their country of residence. Each Global Final Contestant is responsible for ensuring they have all necessary visas, travel documentation, travel insurance and inoculations at their own cost. Any penalties associated with changes made to any reservation following confirmation of booking will be the responsibility of the Global Final Contestant. Only costs specifically identified above will be met by the Promoter.
  1. The prize for the winner of the 2017 Opihr World Adventure Cocktail Competition will be a trip for two to a mystery location on the spice route. Details of the location will be revealed once the winner is announced. The prize includes return flights for two from closest airport in country of residence, transfers at the destination, and 5 nights’ accommodation (based on a double room occupancy for two people). Meals are not included. All other expenses are the winner’s responsibility, including telephone/Internet; room-service charges; gratuities; any airline changes fees where the winner seeks to change their flights, dates of travel or travel details; any additional airline or airport charges including, but not limited to, seat assignments, baggage fees or airport taxes. The winner is responsible for arranging, and the cost of, travel and from the airport in their country of residence. The winner is responsible for ensuring they have all necessary visas, travel documentation, travel insurance and inoculations at their own cost. Any penalties associated with changes made to any reservation following confirmation of booking will be the responsibility of the winner. Only costs specifically identified above will be met by the Promoter.
  2. The prize trip must be taken on the dates organized by the Promoter (estimated to be in May 2018). It is unlikely that it will be possible to rearrange the dates for the trip.
  3. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prize (or any part thereof) for a prize or prizes of equivalent or greater monetary value if this is necessary for reasons beyond its reasonable control. There is no cash alternative to the prize (or any part thereof)) and unless the Promoter agrees otherwise in writing the prizes are non-refundable and non-transferable

The Promoter accepts full liability for death or personal injury caused by its negligence, or loss caused by a false statement where the statement is made fraudulently, or for any other losses that cannot be excluded at law. Otherwise, the following exclusions of liability will apply. References to the “Promoter” in this Liability section include all of the Promoter’s associated companies, agents or any other third party involved in the Promotion.
  2. The Promoter will not be responsible for (and will have no liability in connection with) the following occurrences, to the extent that they occur for reasons beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control:
  1. any postponement or cancellation of the Promotion;
  2. any changes to the prize or the way in which they can be used; or
  3. any travel delays during the prize trip.
  1. The Promoter does not accept responsibility for network, computer, hardware or software failures of any kind, which may affect the sending, receipt or processing of your entry or for entries lost, damaged, delayed or unreadable, including loss of entries through technical fault or transmission delays.
  2. If the Promoter has grounds to suspect any Entrant or third party of cheating, deception or fraudulent or unsportsmanlike conduct of any kind (including, without limitation, manipulating the Promotion, choice of prize winner(s) or any entry (or establishing multiple registrations in order to gain multiple entries) the Promoter reserves the right (in its sole discretion) to disqualify any Entrant, entry or person it reasonably believes to be responsible for, or associated with, such activity.
  3. The winner should be in good health and appropriately fit for travel and waives any claim they may have against the Promoter for any safety or health issue or problem they may have during travel.
  1. The Promoter will use each winner’s, and each Entrant’s personal details for the purpose of administering this Promotion. Please note that Entrants’ data may be transferred to, processed and/or stored outside the European Economic Area.

By entering this Promotion, Entrants grant the Promoter the free use of their name, country of residence, photographs, video and voice (“Image”) for advertising, publicity and news purposes in any media in connection with the Promotion in perpetuity without additional remuneration. The winner’s acceptance of the prize shall be deemed to be a confirmation of their agreement for the Promoter to use their Image, and the winner shall sign any further documentation reasonably required by the Promoter in this regard. A winner may also be asked to take part in reasonable publicity and PR activity in connection with the Promotion.

Signature Cocktail Competition

  1. This is a spirit on spirit cocktail, with famous brand serving as the base spirit. No muddled fruit, juices and or syrups should be used in making a Signature. Fruits, herbs, essences and spices may be used in infusions however.
  2. Modifiers such as fortified wines, bitters, tinctures, infusions and citrus oils are acceptable variables in a Signature cocktail.
  3. The ratio of modifier(s) to base spirit (famous brand) should never exceed 50:50. The cocktail should be not exceed 3.5 oz.
  4. The Signatures' traditional garnishes are a citrus twist or olives. Cocktail onions are also an acceptable garnish. When thinking of new garnishes, let your imagination run wild.
  5. The cocktail can be served up or on the rocks. In addition, it may be stirred or shaken. Glassware and presentation are up to the contestants.

After winning two national cocktail competitions, TJ was able to open his own members-only cocktail club, Blood & Sand in St. Louis, MO setting new standards creativity and unparalleled service. Two years later, he opened Death In The Afternoon – a lunchtime concept aimed at exceptional food and afternoon cocktails. In 2013, TJ launched Brigade Society – a cocktail and restaurant consulting firm targeted at the core of hospitality.

Joanne Moore

Celebrating her 10-year anniversary as G&J Distillers’ Master Distiller (the 7th in a line of distillers dating back to 1761), Joanne Moore is an internationally revered expert in the industry and the creator of Berkley Square, Thomas Dakin, BLOOM and Opihr Oriental Spiced Gin.
